BALTIMORE, MARYLAND
- Fire officials extinguished an underground fire in an electrical substation in downtown Baltimore.
Fire Department spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the blaze was reported about 9 p.m. October 9 at Eutaw Street and Madison Avenue. He says there was some charring on a manhole cover, and when firefighters removed it, some fire and smoke were visible.
The fire apparently originated in an electrical substation.
Baltimore County firefighters brought a cardox unit, which uses carbon dioxide to extinguish electrical fires.
