Bruce Power fires almost 100 in code of conduct probe

TIVERTON, ONTARIO - Bruce Power, a nuclear generating facility on the shores of Lake Huron, has fired close to 100 employees at its site at Tiverton, Ont.

Spokesman Ross Lamont says the firings follow an investigation of code of conduct violations in such areas as e-mail and Internet use.

Mr. Lamont did not release details of the alleged violations, but says police are aware of the investigation and the firings.

He told radio station CKNX in Wingham, Ont., that Bruce Power “expects all employees and contractors to live by the code of conduct. “ If they are not prepared to, he said, “then we don't want them working in our facility.”

Bruce Power, about 250 kilometres northwest of Toronto, employs about 3,000 people.
