About Acutran Transformers

Acutran is a veteran-owned custom designer and manufacturer of low- and medium-voltage dry-type transformers from 10VA to 3000kVA with voltages up to 25000V, inductors and reactors, and related components and services. The Transformer Repair Shop at Acutran provides repair services for damaged transformers and reactors, especially those impaired by severe weather events. It’s also the source for more than 4000 oil-filled transformer renewal parts and maintenance items.

Our mission is to deliver the best quality, the best customer service, and the best experience with each and every transaction, each and every time. Dry-type transformers are a critical component in all electrical systems, so Acutran uses only the best winding and insulation materials with either a distributed gap, E & I laminate, or mitered core. All transformers built by Acutran are built to ANSI/IEE and DOE 2016 energy efficiency standards, where applicable. 

The transformer manufacturer has customers in utilities, mining, and industry, as well as the military. Specifically for the utility industry, Acutran offers special-purpose three-phase zig-zag transformers in 50, 60, and 400Hz for delta connections requiring a ground, wind and solar farms, and generator applications; single-phase control power step-down transformers; custom low- and medium-voltage power transformers; dry-type reactors; and custom NEMA enclosures. They can provide quotes and designs within 48 hours based on Acutran’s extensive library of more than 5000 drawings, and a custom product delivered to spec within four weeks. The company is located in a 30,000-sq.-ft. facility in Fombell, PA - about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. Acutran was founded in 1983. It is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
