Evluma expands their roadway product line with a new low-glare luminaire, the RoadMax RX2. With a lumen output up to 28,000 lumens, the LED RX2 is positioned to assist municipalities and utilities retire inefficient and maintenance-intensive legacy HID cobraheads.
Evluma announces the next major release in the RoadMax roadway luminaire line, the RX2. Positioned to replace 150-400W HID cobraheads, the RX2 sits between the lower-wattage RX1, released in 2022, and the forthcoming high-wattage RX3 in size.
Ranging from 8,000 to 28,000 lumens, the 70-220 watt RX2 will satisfy rigorous streetlight requirements while slashing energy use in half. “The versatility of this one offering reduces the number of SKUs a roadway lighting program might have to stock. It simplifies things,” stated Senior Product Manager Jason Dobbs.“ Multiple luminaire configurations for Type II, Type III and Type V, all with zero-uplight (U0), are offered. “The RoadMax product line now replaces any HID cobrahead up to 400 watts with just two housing sizes. Consistent product design across models also provides aesthetic continuity.”
Like the RX1, the precision primary optics are designed to address Disability Glare while achieving maximum pole spacing. The RX2 is also equipped with optional secondary lenses for enhanced glare control; light trespass shields offer spill light curtailment. Evluma recently authored a white paper on LED Streetlight Glare, Causes and Solutions. “Reducing brightness and installing a secondary lens are two ways to combat Disability Glare. With an FAO (Field Adjustable Output) and secondary lens options, RoadMax offers both,” stated National Sales Director Chris Lubeck.
RoadMax can be customized to include Evluma’s Photocontrol Failsafe, a patented technology that solves photocontrol failures on street and area lights. Compatibility with ConnectLED, Evluma’s Bluetooth app for wireless lighting controls, enables dimming and dimming schedules without the need for a network. Evluma’s comprehensive 10-year warranty and signature 20kV/10kA surge protection comes standard with every model.

This solution is designed for utilities, municipalities, facilities and property managers looking to upgrade their existing decorative lighting from HID to LED and features the OmniMax™ LED lamp as its light source.

Build-Your-Own-Acorn offers the freedom to replace and repair fixtures without being locked into a proprietary OEM solution that may be hard to change later and typically costs more. It’s everything but the pole.”
Build-Your-Own Acorn includes multiple styles of acrylic and polycarbonate globes, in addition to a cast aluminum capital fitter. The capital fits 3 inch and 4 inch poles and is offered in black or green. The 70W OmniMax LED lamp is offered in six different color temperatures ranging from 2000K-5000K in either the Premium or Standard. OmniMax Premium includes Evluma’s patented, maintenance-saving Photocontrol Failsafe™ and compatibility with Evluma’s Bluetooth lighting app ConnectLED™. OmniMax Standard ships without connectivity features or Photocontrol Failsafe built-in.
“Photocontrol Failsafe means never having to replace a failed photocontrol ever again,” said Janine Soper, Evluma’s Regional Sales Manager. “With ConnectLED, the OmniMax Premium can be quickly dimmed or programmed with a dimming schedule, offering additional aesthetic and energy saving opportunities,” said Janine.
Both OmniMax models are supported by robust 20kV/10kA surge protection and the OmniMax’s four layers of thermal management for extended operation in enclosed environments. The capital has a 5 year warranty on the finish. Acrylic globes are warrantied for 5 years against yellowing. The OmniMax and all electronics, including the capital’s optional photocontrol are warrantied for 10 years.

The first model in the series, the RoadMax RX1, with wattages ranging from 30W-70W and an estimated output range of 3,000 to 9,000 lumens, is estimated to start shipping at the end of April 2022.
This sleek and stylish luminaire was designed with RP-8-18 roadway requirements in mind. The unique optical design offers a combination of roadway performance and glare control unprecedented in the industry. “RoadMax is an advancement of Evluma’s reputation for low-glare, visually-pleasing outdoor lighting,” says Taisha Bezzo, National Sales Director. “RoadMax addresses contemporary concerns regarding disability glare and light trespass from roadway lighting while maintaining exceptional pole spacing.”
Multiple luminaire configurations for Type II, Type III and Type V, all with zero-uplight (U0), are offered. Additional features such as a field adjustable wattage selector (FAO), light trespass shields and a choice of photocontrol sockets are available. RoadMax can be customized to include Evluma’s Photocontrol FailsafeTM, a patented technology that solves photocontrol failures on street and area lights. Compatibility with ConnectLEDTM, Evluma’s Bluetooth app for wireless lighting controls, enables dimming and dimming schedules without the need for a network. Evluma will be showing the RoadMax at Lightfair 2022, Booth #2546.
Evluma crowns their versatile roadway product line with their largest LED roadway luminaire to date. The RoadMax RX3 is positioned to assist municipalities and utilities retire inefficient and maintenance-intensive legacy HID cobraheads on major roadways.
February 15, 2024, Renton, WA… Evluma announces the release of the LED RoadMax RX3 roadway luminaire. The large, triple-light-engine RX3 is up to 50% more energy efficient than the 150-400W HID cobraheads it’s positioned to replace.
The RX3 completes Evluma’s RoadMax series of low-glare roadway luminaires. The release of the RX3 also kicks off a series of new features that will roll out over the entire product line, including 277-480VAC compatibility. The RoadMax RX3 is available in model wattages ranging from 120-300W. Optionally, an adjustable lumen output switch increases service efficiency by expanding each model wattage with an additional seven output settings.
Like the rest of the RoadMax luminaires, the RX3 is distinguished by its sophisticated, durable design and low-glare, precision optics. Multiple luminaire configurations for Type II, Type III, Type IV and Type V, all with zero-uplight (U0), are offered. Proven to further reduce glare, the RX3 is released with signature RoadMax secondary lenses. Innovative field-installable shields curtail light trespass. The large roadway luminaire can be ordered with a 7-pin socket for networked nodes and 20kV/10kA Extreme surge protection. Like all RoadMax, the RX3 can be customized to include Evluma’s Photocontrol Failsafe, a patented technology that solves photocontrol failures on street and area lights.
The RoadMax RX2 spanning 70 – 220 watts was released in March of 2023 and the award-winning RX1 offered in 30-100 watts was released in March of 2022. “Color temperatures, efficacy targets, expanding specifications, adherence to RP-8-22 (IES) plus citizen feedback are just a few factors that can influence the choice of roadway luminaire. Overlapping wattages between each size luminaire (small, medium, large) allows for a variety of choices in efficacy (lm/W) and light output. It also affords additional flexibility if the goal is to stock fewer SKUs,” stated Evluma Marketing Director, Cathleen Shattuck. “With a 10-year warranty and 20kV/10kA surge protection the RX3 crowns this robust line of roadway luminaires.”
