Public likes utility's sustainable energy program

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA - Lincoln Electric System officials have seen a strong response to the utility's sustainable energy program.

LES vice president Todd Hall says the program was meant to last all of 2009. But in just four months, all $1.1 million in incentives the utility offered have been committed.

Nearly 5,000 homes served by LES took conservation measures and received an incentive payment. And five grants of up to $50,000 were pledged to businesses for projects to improve energy-intensive processes.
