Former FERC director joins DC research group

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Concept Capital, a leading institutional broker and total solutions provider for global investment managers, announced that William F. Hederman, former founding Director of the Office of Market Oversight and Investigations (now the Office of Enforcement) for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), has joined its Washington Research Group as a Senior Energy Policy Analyst.

Mr. Hederman brings to Washington Research Group a thorough understanding of the financial impact of market regulation and competition across the energy sector. In his new role, Mr. Hederman will use his years of experience in both industry and government positions to provide in-depth coverage of utilities, FERC, and natural gas sectors, as well as a broad overview of the entire energy sector landscape.

Mr. Hederman will be working closely with the members of Washington Research GroupÂ’s energy team, including Ed Garlich, Managing Director and oil and gas analyst; and K. Whitney Stanco, Energy Policy Analyst covering alternative energy, climate policy and the intersection between traditional energy generators and renewable suppliers.

Prior to joining the Washington Research Group, Mr. Hederman served as the founding Director of the Office of Market Oversight and Investigations at FERC where he was recruited by the Chairman to create new market intelligence and enforcement capabilities during the California and Enron crises. In recognition of his contribution to the agency, he was the recipient of FERC’s most prestigious award, “Exemplar of Public Service,” and was nominated for the national “Service to America” award.
