Allegheny Power moves forward with Transmission HQ

Allegheny Power, the electric delivery business of Allegheny Energy Inc., announced that it has reached two important milestones in the location of its new Transmission Operations Headquarters in Fairmont, West Virginia.

Allegheny has selected Omni Associates of Fairmont as the architectural and engineering firm for the new building.

Allegheny also purchased a 9.5-acre parcel of land in the I-79 High Technology Park from the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation.

Allegheny expects to start construction of an environmentally friendly building in 2009, with completion expected in mid-2011. Approximately 150 new positions will be brought to the region with the new facility, which will serve as the center for AlleghenyÂ’s multi-state transmission functions.
