Industrial Electrician--Arc Flash/Lockout Tagout

Due to our continued growth, SEAM Group (formerly Lewellyn Technology) has several openings for Electrical Field Technicians! You can be located just about anywhere in the 48 contiguous United States as long as you live within an hour of a larger airport. If you have a strong industrial electrical background and enjoy traveling to different companies, this could be the job for you!

Experience with arc flash testing and creating lock-out/tag-out processes is the perfect background!

The Field Technician duties include but are not limited to: Traveling weekly to client sites across North America to gather electrical distribution system information such as wire size, length, circuit breaker settings, fuse information, transformer data, etc.; surveying facilities for exposures to live conductors; supporting engineers in power studies of client sites; creating field sketches of systems; presenting finished reports to clients;  and affixing safety labels to electrical equipment.

The best qualified candidates will have the following:

  • At least five years of industrial electrical experience working with building electrical distribution systems in an industrial setting.  Graduates of trade schools that offer strong electrical power coursework will also be considered, as well as veterans that served in a military role in which they learned about and worked on electrical systems (such as serving on a Navy submarine);
  • A strong safety orientation as well as being willing and able to wear up to Category 4 Personal Protective Equipment while on the job (for your own protection!);
  • The ability to climb ladders on equipment and work at heights of up to 30 feet;
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds (electrical panel doors can be very heavy), reach above your head and below your knees, and crawl on your hands and knees occasionally;
  • A willingness to travel on a weekly basis-this job is considered to be 100% travel;
  • The ability and willingness to follow detailed and defined guidelines;
  • And the personal maturity and dedication to show up where your job takes you, on time, and ready to roll!

Prospective candidates must pass an electrical skills test to be considered for the position. A valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.  Our technicians go to work locations by air or car. We pay for transportation, lodging, and offer a per diem. A corporate credit card is part of the package, and you are permitted to keep and utilize points earned through travel reward programs.

Having basic computer skills in current software platforms and the ability to work with mobile devices, such as tablets, is important, as is the ability to speak and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

This position comes with a competitive benefits package that includes access to health, dental, vision, and life insurance at group rates; a matched 401(k); and more! For consideration, send your resume to cbrown@seamgroup.com.  Please be sure to include the city and state in which you live.
