Control Electrician

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Equipment communications protocols.
  • Electrical power distribution systems.
  • PLC and relay logic controls in various manufacturing equipment.
  • AC 3 phase motors and motor controls.
  • AC/DC single phase motors and controllers including servo drive systems.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Problem solving skills include troubleshooting of electrical problems and mechanical functions.

Responsibilities:

The Control Electrician at various worksites is responsible for the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and modification of new and existing industrial equipment.


The Control Electrician will be working in a manufacturing environment with a team or individually. Tasks include electrical wiring, electrical power-up, troubleshooting, and verification of machine settings and functions.

A Day in the Life Typically Includes:

  • Troubleshooting electrical issues on plant equipment (up to 480 volts).
  • Performing routine and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting PLC issues to maintain production quality.
  • Assisting in the planning, upgrading, installing and startup of internal projects and equipment.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment, i.e.: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots and other PPE as required by specific jobs.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of electrical experience in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment OR an associate degree or higher in Electrical Technology.
  • Experience with single and 3 phase electrical repair/trouble shooting up to 480 volts.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLC's, A/C and D/C motors, motor controllers and drives.
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years or more of electrical experience in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
  • Experience with precision alignment in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
  • Experience with welding in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
