Substation Site Supervisor (Civil)

EPTCON is recruiting for a Substation Site Supervisor (Civil) to join our various project locations throughout Ontario. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work closely with EPTCON’s team delivering high voltage electrical contracting services. EPTCON will consider qualified candidates from across Canada for this role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the project, drawing up two (2) week plans, and adhering to project schedule;
• Ensure that construction is cost effective;
• Make sure installations are completed on time and are of good quality;
• Determine the manpower and material resources needed while abiding by union rules;
• Draft a timescale for the project;
• Investigate Estimating costs and adhere to Customer/regulatory quality standards;
• Monitor construction processes and adjust schedules as needed;
• Be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment;
• Monitor quality standards and implement quality-control programs;
• Liaise among different departments, e.g. Project Managers, Project Coordinators;
• Work with Managers to implement EPTCON’s policies and goals;
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed;
• Supervise and motivate a team of workers;
• Review worker performance;
• Identify training needs; and,
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Site Supervisor;
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industrial sector;
• Experience or Trade Certification in a Civil discipline;
• Knowledge in the construction of substation facilities is a plus;
• Demonstration of successful completion of construction projects;
• A willingness to travel, often to remote areas where projects are located;
• A safe work attitude;
• Computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), MS Word and Excel software applications, etc.;
• Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines;
• Excellent organization skills; and,
• Strong leadership capabilities, teamwork skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
