Eclipsed
How does the dwarf moon appear
when eclipsed by such radiance?
His darkening disk is obscured
by your searing choice
to brighten some other world.
He hesitates at the altar of totality,
escorts your impatient grace
to a younger hand and face.
He orbits in ancient protest -
so absorbed by your ghostly halo -
then passes your diamond ring.
Seen from the Earth's blue eye,
the moon envelopes the Sun -
while the Sun sees the moon
appear as but a racing shadow
of night eclipsed by day.
