Russia To Train Specialists For Iranian Nuclear Plant

VORONEZH, Russia -- The Russo-Iranian coordination committee meeting in Novovoronezh discussed the training of personnel for the nuclear power plant under construction in Bushehr, Aleksandr Ivanchenko, the director of the training centre, told ITAR-TASS.

Over 700 Iranians will have trained in more than 30 specialities by the time the first reactor of the Bushehr power plant is to go into operation in 2004.

They will include officials who will work in the plant's directorate, Ivanchenko said. More than 400 of them have already completed the studies at the Novovoronezh centre at contemporary facilities and left for home. One hundred people are undergoing training now.

"They are good professionals with university degrees, also from European universities, who have been carefully selected for training," Ivanchenko said.
