DALLAS, TX. -- DocuCorp(R) International, a leading provider of enterprise information solutions, today announced that Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited will license DocuCorp's software solution to enable Internet presentation of utility bills. The City of Toronto, Canada's largest municipality, owns Toronto Hydro, which provides services to 650,000 customers. "This solution will improve communications and strengthen relationships with a large segment of our customer base," said Roman Dementavicius, Toronto Hydro's project manager. "Because we already use DocuCorp's bill print solutions, it makes sense to leverage their knowledge and expertise by implementing their Internet bill presentation solution. Our already existing partnership will enable us to offer this service to customers within the next 90 days." The option to receive and pay bills via the Internet is quickly becoming a standard in the New Economy. Studies have projected that more than 5 billion bills will be available on presentment servers in 2001, and electronic payments are expected to grow 1,540% from 1997 to 2005. Toronto Hydro will promote the electronic bill presentment (EBP) through billing inserts, on its Web site and with payment partners, including local banks. In 1999, Toronto Hydro introduced new billing statements produced with DocuCorp information solutions, integrated with the BANNER Customer Information System provided by SCT Utility Systems. The municipal utility was created January 1, 1998, when Toronto Hydro-Electric Commission, East York Hydro, Etobicoke Hydro, North York Hydro, Scarborough Public Utilities and York Hydro were consolidated into a new company.
