| Are You Ready For CSA Z462?? |
Training NFPA 70e "The Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace" is a standard that is rapidly changing the electrical safety culture in Canada and the basis of CSA's upcoming CSA Z462 Arc Flash Standard.
CSA-Z462 is being developed in parallel with the 2009 Edition of NFPA 70E for Canadian workplaces. The 2004 Edition of NFPA 70E (upon which this tutorial is based) is being used as the "seed document" for the development of CSA Z462. For this reason, it is important that you understand NFPA 70e.
This Basic Arc Flash Awareness course is best suited for those electrical professionals who require a general overview of NFPA 70E and it's many requirements impacting on personal protective equipment. The course will also cover the scope of CSA's upcoming CSA Z462 Arc Flash Standard (under development), which will be Canada's version of NFPA70E when it is released later in 2008.
Training NFPA 70e is about learning how to reduce your personal risk of injury and how companies can protect their employees from accident, injury and death.
Our 2008 Training NFPA 70e Arc Flash Awareness tutorials will focus on the existing NFPA 70e Arc Flash Stadard as well as the development and introduction of Canadian Standards Association's upcoming "CSA Z462" and legislation that will be released in 2008. Leading industry experts on Arc Flash Protection and Mitigation will present new content NOT covered in our previous arc flash training courses.
This One-Day Awareness Course will also present an in-depth review of the development of CSA's Z462 Arc Flash standard. CSA Z462 is now being developed by a Canadian technical committee of Arc Flash and Electrical Safety experts that are writing a standard that will act as the Canadian version of NFPA 70e.
From our "Training NFPA 70E Arc Flash Awareness" tutorial you will:
- Learn how to define short circuits and electrical arcs.
- Understand electrical safety parameters.
- Determine energy released during a short circuit and why you need to be protected.
- Learn techniques for reducing potential explosive energy.
- Learn how to protect yourself and those around you from electrical hazards.
- Learn how to select proper personal protective equipment (PPE) for the right environment.
Dangers such as shock, electrocution, and arc blast will always be present on the job, but proper training and safety strategies can minimize the likelihood of injuries and fatalities. NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety in the Workplace - covers the full range of electrical safety issues from work practices to maintenance, special equipment requirements, and installation. In fact, OSHA in the United States already bases its electrical safety mandates on the comprehensive information in this important Standard.
NOTE: THIS STANDARD FOR ELECTRICAL SAFETY PROTECTION WILL BE ADOPTED IN CANADA (AS CSA Z462) AND IT IS ADVISABLE THAT ALL CANADIAN COMPANIES BECOME FAMILIAR WITH NFPA 70e ARC FLASH STANDARDS AND PRACTICES AND COMPLIANT WITH THE REQUIREMENTS oF THIS STANDARD. COMPLIANCE WITH NFPA 70e WILL ALSO MEAN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FUTURE CSA Z462.
Electric utility, industrial, commercial, institutional electrical professionals, electrical contractors, and others who are involved in hands-on electrical roles or maintenance planning. This includes electrical engineers, electrical supervisors, electrical technicians, in-plant electricians, electrical contractors, and other electrical personnel who work on or near energized electrical equipment and systems.
