Basic Electrical Training Course Description
Our Basic Electrical Training course provides a practical introduction to industrial electricity principles as applied to modern industrial, commercial and institutional electric power systems. The subjects covered are a must for anyone who works with and around electricity or around electrical components. The fundamentals include electrical flow, Ohm's Law, electrical drawings, symbols and schematics, information on basic relay, breaker and fuse operation, as well as AC transformers and electric motors. These subjects are explained thoroughly without the unnecessary complex math. Participants will assemble practical circuits in which they will apply the concepts learned.

Students are encouraged to bring their laptop computers to the course to learn how electrical circuits are analyzed using one of today's leading software simulation tools.

This Basic Electrical Training course is ideal for both the beginner and someone with years of experience but no formal training. It is practical in nature - it will cover subjects that an industrial, commercial or institutional electrician must know to be effective. This course is designed to be practical, with procedures and things you need to know to effectively troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems.

The Basic Electrical Training course begins with the fundamentals of industrial electricity by explaining Voltage, Current, Resistance, and Power, which then leads to a brief discussion of Ohm s Law. Following this, there will be a lengthy discussion of electrical symbols and drawings, which includes analyzing drawings of the electrical systems.

The balance of the Basic Electrical Training course centers on Generators, Transformers, Motor, Motor Controls and Power Circuits, Electrical Protective Devices, and Wiring Systems in three-phase and single-phase distribution systems.

Who Should Attend
This comprehensive two-day Basic Electrical Training course is designed to benefit those working in maintenance that desire to increase their practical knowledge. The course is open to multicraft maintenance technicians, electricians, mechanics, supervisors, mechanical engineers, field and plant personnel, supervisors and others with the need to learn the practical application of electricity in an industrial setting. This course is excellent for new electrical personnel and those involved with cross-training.
  • Machine Operators
  • Mechanics
  • Apprentices
  • Technicians
  • Non-electrical Tradespeople
  • Non-electrical Engineers
  • Cross-training Personnel and operations personnel who come into contact with control systems

This training program introduces the important rules and fundamentals related to basic industrial electricity. Learn how DC and AC circuits are designed and integrate generators, transformers and motors. Also, students will learn the basics of electrical protection and control. Know the methods of estimating and measuring current flow and voltage drop in circuits. Students will also learn power factor and how it can be controlled. Students will gain an effective knowledge of how connection and wiring rules are used to power various devices and electrical loads.
