ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for design and project administration related to our overhead and underground capital construction program.
Skills and Qualifications:
Must be registered with the Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) in the electrical discipline, or be a graduate of a full time college course in electrical technology that would lead to certification.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong commitment to providing customer service.
Job Duties:
Design or review consultant designs of underground subdivisions.
Design overhead pole lines and underground distribution systems and as the project leader, assume responsibility to allocate materials, obtain all necessary approvals, issue work for construction, project monitoring and billing.
To work closely with construction, records, planning & standards and accounting departments to ensure effective project design and completion.
To liaise with the City, Region, other Utilities, Customers, Developers and Contractors related to the design and construction of projects assigned to you.
To provide cost estimates for capital work under consideration.
Wage level will be based on the applicant’s past experience in the planning and design of electrical utility distribution systems, and knowledge of computer programs used in the Engineering Department.
