SUPERVISOR, ELECTIC & OPERATIONAL SERVICES



Primary Duties



Reporting to the Manager, Electric & Operational Services, the Supervisor provides day-to-day mentoring and supervision of electrical field staff by organizing, directing and scheduling field operations for overhead, underground and substation assets. The Supervisor also has responsibilities for assigning work activities, projects and programs, evaluating work products, methods and procedures, implementing corporate and health & safety policies, and ensuring the timely delivery of services by liaising with others to ensure project milestones are properly supported. Supervisory functions include hiring, training, monitoring employee performance, preparing performance reviews and other related supervisory responsibilities. The incumbent will continue to foster co-operative efforts amongst staff as well as independent thinking and decision-making as situations dictate. The supervisor will also participate in departmental planning and formulation of strategic initiatives for service improvement, assist in the preparation of the budget, establish, monitor and report on departmental goals and metrics and advise on alternative processes and procedures that streamline or improve the effectiveness of departmental operations.



Education, Licences/Certification and Other Qualifications Required



  • Minimum post-secondary College Diploma in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the electrical distribution field of work, particularly in a utilities environment, as well as familiarity with electrical overhead, underground and substation infrastructures will be required. Supervisory experience is highly desirable, as is certification in Powerline Technician, Substation Electrician or Underground Power Cable.
  • Knowledge of applicable Canadian and Ontario codes and standards is required.
  • Valid Class "G" Driver's licence,
