Summer will soon be here and heat is a transformer's number one enemy. Operation at only 10°C above the transformer rating will cut transformer life by 50%. Heat is caused by internal losses due to loading, high ambient temperature, solar radiation and inefficient heat transfer from the windings to the oil due to age and poor maintenance. The KMAC-100 is a portable auxiliary transformer cooler that can be quickly and easily deployed on an energized transformer to immediately reduce the transformer oil temperature. While the KMAC-100 is simple and portable, it is rugged and designed for deployment in situations that would require continuous, long term cooling needs on an existing transformer.

The KMAC-100 is designed to be connected to the transformers top filter press and bottom drain valve to provide up to 100 KW of auxiliary cooling to augment the existing transformer cooling. Other connection arrangements are possible and can be customized to meet any transformer installation.
